In June last year, Ramaphosa has expressed hope that Russia and Ukraine would consider the points raised by African countries in their efforts to find a peaceful resolution to their conflict.
This was after Ramaphosa, along with a delegation, held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Despite not reaching a deal to end the war, Ramaphosa, considered the peace mission a success and provided optimism for the resolution of the conflict.
The African leaders, at the time, presented a 10-point proposal as part of efforts to bring the conflict to an end
They requested the release of children and prisoners of war and expressed concerns about disruptions to the supply chain and food security caused by the war.
Ramaphosa said that there was a positive response from Putin and Zelenskyy, and both presidents agreed to further engagements in resolving the conflict.
